Clinical Grounding

A calm, direct presence for couples affected by trauma.

Chad has a Master's degree and PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy. Before becoming a clinician, he served in the military for 20 years and then worked for the government for an additional 5 years.

His therapeutic focus is couples where one or both partners have been impacted by trauma and that trauma keeps surfacing in the relationship. He uses a solution-focused orientation, an Internal Family Systems-informed approach, and elements of Ocean Therapy.

Chad is certified as an Ocean Therapy Practitioner. He has also been married for more than 20 years and has two adult children.

The goal is not to decide which partner is the problem. The goal is to slow down the pattern.

Safety Boundary

Chad does not work with couples where violence is still actively occurring or has recently occurred. Couples are screened for this during initial and follow-up meetings. He also does not work with sexual offenders, who are referred to a certified sexual offender treatment professional in their locality.
